Campus Events

Although we love getting involved within the Greek System, we also enjoy participating in other events on campus too! Some of these events include intramural sports as well as Day of the Longboat, Gladiator, and Storm the Wall organized by UBC Rec!

Day of the Longboat - This is a UBC signature event taking place on the shores of Jericho Beach with over 3,000 people paddling through the ocean. It is the largest voyageur canoe race in the world and the biggest UBC REC event. The format is simple, teams of rowers compete with other boats through heats, and then if they qualify, into the finals. This all takes place over a weekend. There are Men’s, Women’s, CoRec and Just For Fun classifications so everyone has an opportunity to take part and enjoy the challenge. All teams MUST attend a mandatory pre-race clinic in order to race which is scheduled for the weekend immediately prior to the competition.

Gladiator - Gladiator is a fun-filled event to determine who has what it takes to become a Gladiator! Teams partake in a variety of challenges including an inflatable obstacle course, a maze and many more. Teams will need to utilize their brains, brawn and strategy to defeat the other teams and become UBC's next Gladiator Champion!

Storm the Wall - Storm the Wall has been labeled one of the things you MUST DO before you graduate from UBC! Grab some friends, or maybe go Ironman styles, and take on the infamous 12 foot wall. Legs of the race include a swim, sprint, bike and run all followed by getting your team (or just yourself) up and over that glorious wall.
